Nantwich Food Festival Directors thank all Volunteers

A social event for all existing Festival volunteers took place recently at Nantwich Bookshop to enable the Festival directors to thank everyone who worked on the hugely successful 2019 Nantwich Food Festival and Food Awards. Great food and drinks at the Bookshop accompanied the reminiscences of another successful festival.

Christine Farrall, Festival Chair welcomed all the volunteers, saying “ My fellow directors want to join me in our heartfelt thanks to every one of you for your loyal and selfless volunteering. You are what makes Nantwich Food Festival very special, so that it attracts repeat visitors and exhibitors to the town.

A survey of Festival visitors showed that only 4 out of 10 visitors realised that the Nantwich Food Festival is run totally by unpaid volunteers; most visitors think that it is organised by either Nantwich Town Council or Cheshire East Council.

Christine then went on to introduce new members of the Organising Team and also the two new directors. Nanna Pedley will continue her role as Town Business Liaison Manager, but will also become a director, supporting her fellow directors by sharing the workload; Nanna is shown in the photograph below. Also new to the team of directors is Richard Morgan Wynne, whose main role involves park and ride, road signage and gaining permissions for any necessary road closures.

New volunteers for 2020 are Marcin Solarz and his wife, Aga; Marcin joins the Organising Team as the new Sponsorship Manager, and has responsibility for introducing the new cost-effective sponsorship package to interested local businesses. They can both be contacted at marcin.solarz@nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk

Paul Miller is also new, and joins the Exhibitor Team, which deals with the myriad of work associated with visiting exhibitors; Paul’s wife, Jane already volunteers in this team, and the team is pleased to welcome Paul.

Existing Festival volunteers Nathan Arndt and Vicky Barrett join the Organising Team as joint Committee Secretary and Task Coordinator. They will take on most of the Minute Secretary duties, in addition to general administration.

The Food Festival takes litter clearance and recycling very seriously, and in recognition of this has appointed Charlotte Lightbody to the position of Litter and Recycling Lead - there will be much to occupy Charlotte as Plastic Free and Recycling become increasingly important issues in our daily lives.

We know just how important good entertainment is to locals and visitors, so are delighted that Karen Young has been promoted to Entertainment Lead. Karen has much experience in this field, so watch this space for great 2020 festival entertainment.

The 2020 Nantwich Food Festival takes place on September 4th, 5th and 6th; for more details go to www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk
