GULLIVER'S turned awash with colour and laughter on Sunday as 1,000 people took part in the first Family Fun Run.
There were giant bubbles, fancy dress, stalls and even the sun came out to make the Family Fun Run at Gulliver's World, Warrington, a very special occasion indeed.
The one-mile run was the first event of its kind at Gulliver's World but, judging by the turnout, it certainly won't be the last, as people from all around the region descended on the park for a day of exercise, fun and charity fund-raising.
Dean Kimberley, Gulliver's Director of Guest Services, said: "We have been absolutely blown away by the incredible turnout for the Family Fun Run. The day couldn't have gone any better, we had lots of people taking part, many of them in fancy dress, and the weather was wonderful. Every single person who took part should give themselves a big pat on the back for doing their bit for local charities. It was the first time we have done the Fun Run but I think we may have to do it every year now thanks to such a wonderful response."
15 year old Will Smythe with friends Suzanne, Leon, Aidan and Louis - from Wheelers Lane Technology College in Kings Heath, Birmingham made the special trip especially for the fun run, raising £550 for UK German Shepherd Rescue.
It wasn't just guests that took part in the event either, some of the residents of Gulliver's World were also there to make the day even extra special. Both Gully Mouse and Leonard Lion completed the mile; afterwards they posed for pictures and handed out prizes for the best fancy dress.
One of the best things about the event was that tickets were priced at only £7, which included a FREE theme park ticket on the day, and for every participant Gulliver's have pledged to donate one theme park ticket to a local charity to support children in the region. All participants received a medal and a goody bag and children below 90cm went for free.
