Full line-up announced for Anderton Boat Lift’s third ‘Summer Lift Off’ concert

For its third Summer ‘Lift Off’ concerts, the exciting musical line-up at the Cheshire’s Anderton Boat Lift will headline on Friday 8 August with a ‘Mars to Motown’ tribute band. On Saturday 19 August the band will feature internationally-acclaimed ‘Brotherhood of Man’, with all its original singers and Bobby G’s Bucks Fizz. These high octane acts will be supported by local Cheshire bands, ‘Tijuana Death Squad’ and ‘ReMinds’. Doors open at 6.30pm and for both nights, tickets cost £10 in advance or £15 on the gate. A bar will be available each night in the Lift View Marquee, along with fresh, affordable food from the kitchens of the Lift’s tree-top Coffee Shop.

The full line-up for the Lift Off Concerts is:

Friday 18 August – ‘Mars to Motown’ with Manchester-based Martin Cost. He will start with a soul and Motown medley, including songs like ‘I heard it on the grapevine’, ‘Higher and Higher’ and ‘My Girl’. In the second half, there will be a high-energy Bruno Mars tribute, featuring all Mars’ biggest hits.

Support act: Tijuana Death Squad*, a four-man Northwich-based ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ band with a ‘Mexican twist’.

Saturday 19 August – Brotherhood of Man and Bucks Fizz

Brotherhood of Man first became known internationally in the early 1970s with hits like ‘United we stand’ and ‘Where are you going my love’.  The group won the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Save your kisses for me’ (selling in excess of five million copies and was number one in 33 different countries). The group followed on with two more British number one's in the shape of ‘Angelo’ and ‘Figaro’. They also had a string of other hits including ‘My Sweet Rosalie’, ‘Oh Boy (the mood I'm in)’, .Middle of the night’ and ‘Beautiful Lover’.

Support Act: ReMinds* – a Northwich-based five-piece band - back by popular demand – will be the supporting act and will play covers of bands from the 1980s until now

The Anderton Boat Lift is the first successful boat lift in the county and is Victorian high engineering at its very best. During normal opening hours, the Anderton Boat Lift site is free of charge and visitors can enjoy the interesting, interactive exhibition on the history of the Lift, the play area, the well-stocked shop and the popular tree-top Coffee Shop. The Anderton Boat Lift also offers paid-for boat trips through the iconic boat lift or along the picturesque River Weaver
