A new visitor guide and map has been launched, as part of a project called ‘Destination Crewe’, which aims to promote the town as a great place to hold meetings and conferences. The guide will enable visitors to make the most of their stay, highlighting places of interest, hotels, business parks, shopping centres, and the University.
There are many reasons to consider Crewe as a venue for business meetings, with its central location, great connectivity, quality conference and meeting venues such as Crewe Hall, and proximity to Manchester Airport.
Paul Colman, the Chief Executive of South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and industry commented: “Crewe has such great rail and road connections it is the obvious place for businesses to hold meetings and conferences. If we can promote Crewe and the surrounding area as a meetings venue, it will help local businesses and create jobs for local people. We realised that there was nothing to tell visitors about what the area has to offer so as a first step we have worked together with partners to develop this map and guide.”
Simon Yates, the Leader of Crewe Town Council said, “We are on the threshold of so many good things coming to Crewe, with town centre re-development and HS2 just on the horizon. Even as we wait for these to happen, we have a lot to be proud of including excellent events such as Chalk it up and trAction, our significant place in the history of the railways, and high- quality entertainments at the Lyceum Theatre. This guide puts Crewe well and truly ‘on the map, ’and I would like to thank our partners for their valuable Input to this project.”
Destination Crewe is a partnership of South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, Bentley Motors, the Crewe Arms Hotel, Reaseheath College, South Cheshire College, Ibis Hotels, Crewe Hall Hotel, Virgin, Holiday Inn and the Lyceum theatre. The guide was funded by Crewe Town Council, Manchester Metropolitan University and Cheshire East Council. The design and branding were managed by Marketing Cheshire.
