With the parliamentary majority having been the smallest majority in the UK at the 2015 General Election, particular attention is being focused on the City of Chester as the political battle lines are once again drawn for polling day on June 8th.
And as the party candidates prepare to fight for the votes of the local voters, Chester Business Club - the area’s leading representative business group ~ is staging a special ‘Any Questions?’-style dinner.
Taking part will be Will Gallagher (Conservative), Chris Matheson (Labour) and Elizabeth Jewkes (Liberal Democrat).
Club secretary Bob Clough-Parker said, ‘It has become something of a tradition for the Club to stage this kind of “hustings” event and we are looking forward to it being another lively and informative occasion.’
The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Wednesday May 31st and will be preceded by a Dinner followed by the ‘Any Questions?’ session with the candidates responding to questions put by the audience.
It will be independently chaired by Jim Hancock, the former Political Editor of BBC North West.
Tickets, purchased in advance, are £29 (to include a Reception Cocktail, 3-Course Dinner & Coffee and the Debate. Timings: Doors open 6.30pm, Dinner at 7.00pm following by ‘Any Questions?’ at 8.30pm.
